The Light That Remains is a multi-block print, using two blocks and two gradients to create a limited edition series of 8 prints. Each print is numbered, titled, and signed on the front. Prints are shipped with a backing board and cellophane sleeve for protection.
This print is based off of my experience watching the sun’s last glow climb up the tall poplar trees of an older neighborhood in Maryland. I knew I wanted to make it more minimalist in design and be tall and thin in paper size to accentuate the feeling of upward movement. The peachy orange and purplish browns in soft tones on the paper are a nod to Leo and Diane Dillon, an couple whose book illustrations captivated me as a child. I was also working through this print as the world was going through increased times of hurt and power struggles, creating a sense of the struggle to remain bright in the face of darkness, to know the day may pass but the light remains.
