A Season of Memories is a 6-layer reduction block print, using one block to create a limited edition series of 8 prints. This print is a tribute to all those who have been affected by dementia. 10% of proceeds from the sale of each print will go to The Dementia Society of America and The Alzheimer’s Association. Each print is numbered, titled, and signed on the front. Prints are shipped with a backing board and cellophane sleeve for protection.
This print arose out of two experiences. The first was my time walking beneath the cherry trees in Washington D.C. and Maryland. The second was as I started developing the print design, my mother’s dementia was starting to worsen. I began to travel regularly between Maryland and Tennessee to help her and every time I left, I felt pulled to create a piece of art to convey some of the emotions that she was experiencing. The slow drifting away of the self as the mind fades. This cherry tree print was a beautiful way to express that. My hope is that for all those affected by dementia in their families or lives, and for those who have walked beneath the cherry trees, my hope is that A Season of Memories brings beauty to your memories of these experiences.
